Intern - Metals Operations - 6 to 12 months

MISSION
The intern will participate in all aspects of the Operations Team work where support is needed while learning our specific Operations activities and processes. Exposure to upstream and downstream activities is part of the position.
MAIN ACTIVITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Daily Activities
- Monitor the daily scheduled payments and update the Operators.
- Verify that payments are entered into the accounting system for the scheduled shipments.
- Document relevant shipment documents into the system (shipping documents, AWB, export form, assay certificates, etc.).
- Control the daily bookings for incoming shipments.
- Verify the shipping documents for the Compliance Department.
- Check the estimated arrival dates of the shipments in the system.
- Enter daily payments based on the trading activity and update the system.
Other activities
- Create the incoming shipments in the system.
- Input data in the system for the shipments handled by the team in India (arrival at the airport/arrival at plant / enter weights & fineness, etc.).
- Book entries in the accounting system.
- Execute the whole assay exchange process (also follow up when the results are expected from an umpire lab).
- Contact the concerned clients to request an assay exchange.
- Check interests’ computation for the settlement and the invoicing of the processed shipments.
- Prepare the refining invoices for review by the responsible Operator, and update the correspondent spreadsheets (final ounces, refining invoice amount, etc.).
- Prepare pre-credit notes and pledges.
Reporting
- Assist with monthly/quarterly metal reconciliations for the insurance.
- Assist with the accounts’ reconciliation (cash and metal) on a monthly / bi-monthly basis.
ADDITIONAL DUTIES
- Effectively promote synergies and ensures coordination and collaboration with other areas of the company,
- Make suggestions for improvement; bring innovative ideas and thinking,
- Carry out work in a gender and diversity-sensitive manner,
- Accomplish other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Economics, finance, or another relevant field.
- No prior work experience is required

- Agile and flexible mindset, reactive to requests,
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to interact with colleagues of diverse cultures; respect for diversity.
- Good IT skills; proficiency in Windows environment is expected.
- Proficiency in spoken and written English and French is required; knowledge of other languages is an asset.
- Swiss or EU national or holder of a valid Swiss working permit.
Starting date: 1 August 2023 or a date to be agreed upon.
