MISSION
The Post-Trade Operator is responsible for performing key overnight operational processes that support the firm’s global precious metals trading activities.
Working closely with the European post-trade team, the Operator ensures that all bank reconciliations, margin call computations, and end-of-day checks are completed and ready for review when the European business day begins.
This role is central to maintaining the accuracy and timeliness of the firm’s trade, cash, and margin operations, ensuring smooth handover between time zones and continuity of critical post-trade functions.
MAIN ACTIVITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Reconciliations & Controls
- Reconcile cash balances, margin accounts, and settlement activity against internal trading systems and external bank statements.
- Investigate and document any reconciliation breaks or discrepancies, escalating unresolved issues to the European operations team.
- Maintain accurate records of all reconciliations performed, ensuring full audit traceability.
Margin Call Preparation
- Compute daily margin requirements for both clients and financial institutions, using updated market prices and risk parameters.
- Prepare and validate margin call reports, ensuring they are accurate and ready for issuance by the European team at market open.
- Reconcile prior-day margin movements, settlements, and interest adjustments to ensure correct carry-forward of balances.
- Monitor collateral positions, ensuring adequate coverage and timely identification of margin shortfalls.
End-of-Day/End of Month Processing
- Execute and verify end-of-day (EOD) operational routines, including trade status checks, funding movements, and settlement tracking.
- Computer interests accruals and perform other end of month activities in relation with monthly accounting closing.
ADDITIONAL DUTIES
- Effectively promote synergies and ensures good coordination and collaboration with other departments
- Make suggestions for improvement; bring innovative ideas and thinking,
- Carry out work in a gender and diversity-sensitive manner,
- Accomplish other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Masters degree in Economics, finance or other relevant field.
- 3-5 years of work experience, preferably financial institutions.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and customer orientation,
- Agile and flexible mindset, reactive to requests,
- Ability to interact with colleagues of diverse cultures; respect for diversity.
- Proficiency in spoken and written English is required.
- Malaysian national or holder of a valid work authorization in Malaysia.
